Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 September 2026.

Rustcator.com (“we”, “us”) is a Rust game server browser: we track publicly operated Rust game servers — their address, population, ping, and wipe schedule — and show that to visitors deciding where to play. This policy covers what we do, and don’t do, with information about you, the visitor. It does not cover the game servers we list, which are run by independent third parties.

The short version

Rustcator.com has no comments, no ads, and no analytics or tracking scripts. Browsing the site never identifies you. If you run a Rust server and want to manage it here, you can optionally sign in with Steam — that’s the only thing on the site that ever identifies you, and it’s never required just to browse.

What we don’t collect

We don’t run comments tied to identity, advertising networks, analytics scripts, third-party tracking, or tracking cookies across visits. We don’t collect passwords — Steam handles authentication, and we never see or store yours.

How we use your IP address

When loading server lists, we use your IP address for a one-off, local lookup against a geolocation database to determine the closest ping-measurement region. This lookup stays internal, reaches only country-level precision, and is neither stored nor transmitted to external parties. Standard server logs may retain technical request data for operational security purposes only.

If you sign in with Steam

Signing in is optional and only useful if you run a Rust server and want to manage it here. It redirects you to Steam, where you authenticate directly with Steam — we never see or store your Steam password. Steam then confirms your Steam ID back to us.

If you sign in, we store your Steam ID, and a cached copy of your public Steam display name and avatar (refreshed from Steam each time you sign in) so we can show your account, not a raw ID number. We do not collect a real email address — the account record requires a placeholder address internally, but it’s never used to contact you or anyone else. If you claim a server, we also store a record linking your account to that server and a short verification code used to confirm you administer it.

Third-party services we use

We query Valve’s Steam Web API to list servers and, if you sign in, to look up your public Steam profile — the only case where this involves your own information rather than a server’s. We also contact game servers directly for ping measurements and player counts, which doesn’t transmit visitor information.

Cookies

The site doesn’t set tracking cookies for regular visitors browsing anonymously. If you sign in with Steam, WordPress sets standard session and login cookies so you stay signed in between page loads; these are removed when you sign out.

Children’s privacy

The service doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age.
